Manufacturing Manager for Packaging

GreenForce is working with Dr Jolly’s in Bend, OR to find the ideal Manufacturing Manager. The candidate will need to be efficient, detail oriented, like having a fun work environment, have experience managing a production line utilizing Lean techniques or other proven efficiency strategies. 


The Manufacturing Manager runs the Packaging Department at Dr. Jolly’s, a cannabis dispensary located in Bend, OR. This person will ensure the highest standard of packaging accuracy, quality, cleanliness, and compliance, and will work in partnership with the Operations, Growing, Extraction and Executive teams to increase productivity and support overall manufacturing goals. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager of Dr. Jolly’s.

Compensation: $50-75K/year

  • Supervise packaging staff in all activities in accordance with operational policies and procedures, which includes: ensuring accurate and consistent packaging operations (weighing, labeling and packaging cannabinoid products), quality control, compliance with all applicable rules and regulations (wholesale and retail), safe operation of all packaging equipment, safe handling & storage of food products, and maintenance of a clean and safe physical space

  • Oversee daily department operations. Maintain security and disbursement of cannabis products to packaging staff. Manage daily breaks, lunches, call-outs, time off requests.

  • Maintain accuracy in all reporting, including understanding the complexities of and expertly tracking METRC Seed-to-Sale inventory tracking system required by the state. Report daily production numbers with accurate daily entry into tracking systems.

  • Increase productivity. Develop production schedule with other department leaders.

  • Act as Quality Control specialist (final double-check for accurate labeling and product quality before product is placed in vault)

  • Lead training for Assistant Managers and Shift Leads. Create, develop and maintain SOPs for the packaging department. Ensure orientation, training, and skills development of staff is complete, and consistent with established operational and safety procedures.

  • Ensure packaging staff maintains 100% and accuracy and compliance with: Weights & Measures, USDA Food & Safety standards, applicable health codes. Act as compliance officer of the packaging department, and answer to USDA and ODA food safety inspectors.

  • Create labels when needed, following proper review and approval process

  • Ensure testing duties are complete (prepare lab samples, perform METRC entry, confirm weights post-test and correct any discrepancies)

  • Manage inventory, including weekly PARS, daily intake and organization of received supplies, and proper Dymo labeling of supplies for easy access to packagers

  • Keep relevant communication flowing between all departments (Operations, Growing, Extraction, Admin, and Executive team)

  • Work with executive managers and operations teams to maintain operational excellence and efficiency. Provide feedback on employee development and organizational improvements

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Operations Manager or Executive Director

  • Enforce all company policies and procedures, including health and safety.

  • Ensure compliance related to METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting & Compliance), including but not limited to city, state, and local requirements.

  • Ensure compliance related to OLCC and company regulations. Stay current on changes and have a comprehensive understanding of rules.

  • Desire and ability to go above and beyond designated duties, taking initiative to make sure all tasks and responsibilities are handled.

  • Able to navigate the state / local compliance requirements governing cannabis companies and stay up to date with new regulations. Proficient in METRC, the State Track and Trace software

  • A passion for the cannabis industry and excitement about working in a fast-paced start up a plus!


  • 3+ years proven experience in a similar role (managing manufacturing operations and teams for wholesale/retail) required.

  • Proven track record of utilizing Lean Manufacturing or other efficiency principles for manufacturing.

  • Experience working in a regulatory and compliance-centric environment.

  • Familiarity with a variety of packaging materials & technologies as well as manufacturing processes strongly preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing training programs a plus!

  • Experience with METRC software (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting & Compliance) a plus.

  • Computer proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets/Docs) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat). Basecamp experience is a plus!

  • High School diploma / GED required

  • Possess or be willing to obtain an OLCC marijuana workers permit, and comply with all OLCC and company regulations and company policies

  • Possess or be willing to obtain Oregon Food Handler’s Card and ServSafe Certification

  • 21 years of age or older
